Can you tell us the story behind the founding of your business?

We are a third-generation family business founded by our current general manager’s grandmother in 1957. Initially the business was set up to supply accouchements and badges for the New Zealand Defence Force, but over the years we have adapted to provide a range of different products and services, including sportswear, promotional material, embroidery services, print and workwear.

What sets your business apart from others in the community?

Being in a competitive industry, we constantly have to think outside the box and focus on our customers’ problems and managing solutions to make the process easy. We strive to understand our customers’ needs when it comes to uniform and look to provide the best solutionds.

What challenges have you faced as a local business owner, and how have you overcome them?

When the recession hit in 2010, we were purely embroidery and badging only, and we had to adapt and expand our range of products and services to survive. As a result, we  diversified and now provide the range of services mentioned earlier.

How do you engage with and give back to the local community?

Sponsorship seems to be our biggest avenue in which we can help local communities. We quite frequently support local communities and in particular youth sports teams with uniform and equipment.

Why did you join the Porirua Chamber of Commerce?

Networking for us as a business is important, especially in a competitive environment. We are always looking for further opportunity, as well as being able to engage with other local businesses to use their products and services.
